Purpose of Meeting

Prepare for a peaceful holiday with your kids! Many children and youth face mental health challenges that have an impact on the immediate family and in particular, parent caregivers. Often, the communication becomes highly stressed, creating a painful divide within the family. To help parents develop coping skills and learn new ways of communicating with an emotionally distressed child of any age, Two Faces of Jane is hosting a Caregiver Cafe learning event for parent caregivers. Executive Director Tess Snyder will discuss the latest research on the state of our children's mental health, teach coping skills and effective strategies for communicating with emotionally stressed and/or mentally ill children and youth, and facilitate participant exercises to practice and build skills. Participants will go home with information and tools for applying these skills at home, and healthy snacks and soda, tea, and water will be available during the event. The event will begin at 7 pm and finish around 8:15 pm. Come early to indulge in some holiday yummies and beverages! Please visit https://www.twofacesofjane.org/events to register for this FREE event. Capacity is limited to 50 adults, and participation of both parents is both welcome and strongly encouraged.

Tess is a NAMI and DBSA Certified Support Group Leader, Teacher, and Presenter, and is the mother of an adult child with a serious mental illness that began at age 6. This event is open to anyone who is interested in developing better communication skills for family wellbeing, peace, and understanding.
