The Avon Lake Public Library is happy to announce the start of our summer reading program, “Read 20 in 2020.” This program is available for all ages and allows readers to set their own monthly summer reading goals. The program runs from June 1-August 31, 2020.
Participants can choose to:
Read or listen to 20 books each month
Read or listen for 20 hours each month
Read or listen for 20 minutes per day for 20 days each month
When participants reach these goals, success can be logged from home using the forms found on our website or by calling the library (Children, 440-933-8917; Adults & Teens, 440-933-8127). Those who log completed goals will be awarded prizes through our curbside service or entered into a prize drawing. Prizes for children include rubber ducks, books, and other treasures. A raffle will occur on July 1 & August 1 for African Safari Wildlife Park tickets.
Parents can determine the reading level and rules for what counts. Parents are also welcome to adjust goal numbers/times up or down to fit their child(ren). For students in the Avon Lake City School district or St. Joseph Parish school who choose to log completed goals through the library website, the log will be shared with the schools for possible fall recognition. Those not logging completed goals with the library, please save the paper reading log for possible fall recognition at school.
A reading log can be printed from the website or requested through curbside pickup. The reading log is for your personal use only and does not have to be returned to the library.
