Tristan Radar, Ohio Program Director at Solar United Neighbors (https://www.solarunitedneighbors.org/), discusses everything you need to know to get started with solar energy. If you've ever thought about going solar, you won't want to miss this informative program.
Tristan Rader's commitment to sustainable energy and the well-being of his community is evident in his multifaceted roles. Serving both as the Ohio Program Director at Solar United Neighbors (SUN) and as a member of the Lakewood City Council, Tristan seeks to foster positive change through collective action.
His diverse experiences, from his roles in organizing and outreach to his time at the Cleveland Foodbank, have provided him with a grounded understanding of community needs. Recognizing the potential for policy-driven solutions, Tristan began his foray into public service. His involvement in various campaigns and community activism has taught him the value of grassroots movements and the importance of local governance. Elected to Lakewood City Council in 2017, Tristan has advocated for forward-thinking policies, such as the 100% clean energy commitment, adoption of the city's first climate action plan, and the hiring of Lakewood’s first suitability manager, he always prioritized the voices of his constituents and protecting our planet.
With Solar United Neighbors, Tristan has directed solar co-ops and solarize programs for the Cities of Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton, as well as Cuyahoga and Montgomery County. Tristan also leads SUN’s political efforts to effect state policy to create a regulatory framework that promotes solar adoption across the state.
This program is part of a year-long environmental series, presented in partnership with the Avon Lake Public Library and Avon Lake’s Environmental Affairs Advisory Board (EAAB), that addresses the environmental concerns of Avon Lake's residents expressed via the EAAB survey. Each session focuses on a different topic presented by experts who will educate, as well as provide tools and resources for making an impact in our community.
