DiscoveryWorks Grand Reopening Weekend! February 1st & 2nd, 2025

DiscoveryWorks (DW) at the Avon Lake Public Library (ALPL) is excited to announce its highly anticipated grand reopening to the public this winter, marking a significant milestone in our history. The reopening will take place on Saturday, February 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 2nd from 1:00-5:00 p.m., 2025.

This long-awaited event comes at a very special time as we also celebrate the 30th anniversary of DiscoveryWorks being a beloved learning destination for children and families alike. For three decades DiscoveryWorks has been a key part of our community and we are thrilled to usher in a new chapter with this exciting grand reopening.

We invite everyone to join us for this momentous occasion, where we will kick off the day with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 10am on Saturday, February 1st. In a fun twist, our resident box turtle, Rocky, will be on hand to help us cut the ribbon, adding a unique touch to our opening ceremony.

Throughout the weekend the Library will be offer a variety of free science-inspired and based activities in addition to the reopening itself that include:

The $1.2-million-dollar renovation offers a completely refreshed and reimagined space. With this renovation we had added entirely new interactive exhibits that will spark creativity and fostering learning in new ways. The redesigned space also offers a variety of hands-on activities that are designed to inspire curiosity, learning, and fun. Whether visitors are exploring science, art, or technology, there is something for everyone.

The updated exhibits are not only exciting but are also carefully designed to accommodate children of all abilities and ages, ensuring that every child can engage, play, and discover at their own pace. This renovation reflects our ongoing commitment to providing an inclusive, accessible, and enriching environment for children and families.

Some of the additional changes that come with reopening of DiscoveryWorks are the addition of new and expanded hours. See the new hours below:

Monday - Thursday: 10 AM - 9 PM
Friday - Saturday: 10 AM - 5 PM
Sunday: CLOSED

DiscoveryWorks is FREE for all who visit.

Visitors will find the immersive experiences, exhibits, and activities have been developed to engage children at all ages and learning levels.

Of course, included in the renovations are additional seating and activities tables, inclusive activities for all abilities, and an updated classroom lab for school and group visits, along with programming.
