Tom Hemsath Famous Musicians Abstract Art Show

Avon Lake Public Library Art Gallery is pleased to welcome artist Thomas Hemsath. His show will run from Thursday, January 25th through Wednesday, February 28th. 

Mr. Hemsath’s award-winning work has been featured in numerous juried art shows. He specializes in landscapes, abstracts and portraits done in both watercolor and acrylic.

A member the Aquarelle Watercolor Society, Tom discovered his latent talent for watercolor in the autumn of 2007 when he first picked up a brush.

The paintings on display are portraits of rock and blues legends such as John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Freddie Mercury and others. Hemsath painted them with acrylics in an abstract, posterization style. Posterization, like peeling away the layers of an onion, removes visual elements such as color, blended tones, and detail. The stark effect is designed to reveal the essence of the musician.
