Tarot is well known to consist of 78 cards, each of which symbolizes an archetypal human experience or event. It’s equally well known as a means of fortune-telling. But what is not so well known is the spiritual philosophy that weaves the 78 separate cards together into a profound story about the origin and destiny of the Soul. It’s a story that everyone could benefit from knowing, whether you’re interested in Tarot or you are simply a spiritual seeker.
About the speaker: Rev. Anthony Makar is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister and is currently the Senior Minister of West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River (wsuuc.org). He’s served in congregations across America since 2003 and has engaged thousands of people on issues across the spectrum including spiritual healing and growth, creativity and the arts, trauma, family dynamics, social injustice, organizational change, and community activism. When appropriate, he uses Tarot cards in his pastoral caregiving and in his educational programs. Prior to ministry, Anthony was a college professor of philosophy for almost a decade. In his personal life, he’s a national champion adult figure skater and continues to compete at the tender age of 58 despite two hip replacements. He lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with his long-time girlfriend (who is also his ice-dancing partner) and their three highly individuated cats. Tarot has been a passion of his for more than 35 years.
