Dash into the Holly-Days!
Family Event
Saturday, November 19, Noon to 4pm
Join us to kick off the holidays: 

  • Visit from real reindeer from the North Pole
  • Play in the snow inside at DiscoveryWorks
  • Enjoy a Polar Express train display with a chance to talk with our Arctic Line conductor
  • Try your hand at some reindeer games in the Children’s Department
  • Decorate your own pair of antlers
  • Enjoy festive music
  • Get some tasty hot cocoa and warm popcorn
  • Decorate gingerbread cookies
  • Place vote for your favorite gingerbread house contest as a part of our very first-ever Holly-Day’s Gingerbread House Contest (see for more information below).

Holly-Day’s Gingerbread House Contest
November 19 - December 17
Calling all bakers - professional to novice to group efforts! We want to see your gingerbread creations. Register your house via our official form at alpl.org/gingerbread. There is no fee to participate and this is a friendly competition. We ask only that all houses are made out of edible materials (but no gelatin or buttercream frosting) and mounted on a sturdy base that does not exceed 12” deep by 20” wide. Kits are acceptable. There is no particular theme, so let your creativity be your guide! All houses must be dropped off between November 16 - 18 and on display and for voting between Nov. 19 - Dec. 15. Winners in each category will be announced Friday, Dec. 17. Winners receive bragging rights and a $25 Target gift card
