The national reaction to Cleveland’s 10-Cent Beer Night riot in 1974 was, naturally, one of absolute horror. Who ever thought a 10-cent beer promotion was a good idea? Actually — oddly enough — similar promotions had gone off without a hitch before then. And in fact, Cleveland even held another one later that same season! — with no problem. So what was it that made June 4, 1974 so . . . special? Vince Guerrieri tells the full story behind “the beer that made Cleveland famous.” After the talk, he’ll sign copies of his book Weird Moments in Cleveland Sports.
